Camp Safety

We here at The Alaska Kids Camp know the importance of safety when we are caring for your children. As parents ourselves, we make it a number one priority in every activity, and stress that importance to the kids themselves. Rest assured we have taken every precaution possible to ensure the safety, well-being and happiness of your son or daughter during their stay at The Alaska Kids Camp.

During any activity around or near water, guests are required to wear US Coast Guard approved life jackets. Prior to each activity a safety briefing will be held to stress the proper procedures, techniques and methods necessary to ensure a safe experience.

The Alaska Kids Camp is equipped with the most comprehensive security system available. Heat sensors, a sprinkler system and solid core doors are used throughout the camp. There is a 5 to 1 ratio of campers to counselors. This ensures that each child will be monitored closely in any given situation. Each child will be expected to sign a "behavior contract" which will outline safety concerns and their responsibilities in emergency situations.

There will be a certified nurse on board the camp at all times in case of emergencies. The Alaska Kids Camp is well equipped to handle most medical emergencies. A float plane can be dispatched immediately to transport patients should further medical attention be required. Children with special needs will be well accommodated and assisted with dispensing of medication, mobility issues, or special nutritional needs. We will follow your instructions to the letter.

We understand that the wilderness of Alaska can be an intimidating place - not only for campers, but for their parents as well! We want your child to have a fun and educational experience - and we want you to rest easy that they are in a safe, secure and comfortable environment.

We encourage you to ask questions, express your concerns or drop by the lodge to see our operation in full swing. Parents are always welcome!
